"Thanks!" and "WTF Blogger?!?"

So I asked a question in my last post about dungeons in fiction and I received some replies and I wanted to say thanks to those guys for answering my question.  They definitely provided some things for me to look into.

Now you may be asking yourself, "Why is he thanking them in a new post?  Wouldn't it make more sense to just throw a comment and thank them there?"

The answer to the second question is, yes, of course it would.

But that brings me to part 2 of this post.

WTF Blogger?!?

You see, for some reason that I am unable to fathom, I cannot see any specific Blogger blog post with comments.  I can read a blog and read the last X number of posts, but if I try to click on a specific post to read the comments associated with it, nothing.  My IE opens a new tab and then refuses to put anything into it.  That goes for any blog post, my own included.

(Now I know that many of you scoff at the fact that I use Internet Explorer, but I do.  It's never really bothered me before now.)

I guess the question is, is this an issue with Blogger, an issue with IE, or some other issue?

Can anyone help me?!

  1. It's not just you man, I use Firefox and it's happening to all of us. Weird stuff, like not being able to post a comment on your own blog or save changes to a widget.

I think we need to mass email Google and WTF??? them :)

  2. That's not the only issue with Blogger right now.

I can't read Eternal Keep (eternalkeep.blogspot.com) anymore! I am redirected to the Google log in page with the note that I need to have a Google account to access that site.

    Truly, WTF???

Using IE to reach eternalkeep, I get this response:

To access your blogs, sign in with your Google Account.
The new Blogger requires a Google Account to access your blogs.

Haven't switched yet? Sign in using your old Blogger account instead.

Using Google Chrome, I get this instead, which makes a lot more sense:

This blog is open to invited readers only

      http://eternalkeep.blogspot.com/
It doesn't look like you have been invited to read this blog. If you think this is a mistake, you might want to contact the blog author and request an invitation.

You're signed in as david.kristof@gmail.com - Sign in with a different account

Sounds like an IE (and Firefox problem) combined with an "invited readers only" situation.

  4. Nick, I get the same error you did using IE (i.e. [LOL] a blank screen). Using Google Chrome, I get the comments and can respond to them. Time you picked up Chrome. (Ren's comment about Blogger may be true or not, but I think it likely IE is just not interpreting the page correctly, and I suspect Firefox isn't either. Whether that's because of Google-specific coding in Blogger, or crappy handling of standards by the others, I really don't know for sure.)
